Perfection
“Perfection is finally attained not when there is no longer anything to add but when there is no longer anything to take away, when a body has been stripped down to its nakedness.” - Antoine De Saint-Exupry
This scrawny wild sunflower is a reminder for all of us that it’s ok to be a little reckless and scrappy in our journey, rather than holding out for some vision of perfection.
Between a fire at my house this weekend (yes, an actual fire and 8 firefighters in my house) to being back at square one after months invested into my housing search, I’m pretty much as done as burnt toast. (Ok, retrograde. I see you now.) There may never have been a better time for a creative retreat in my whole life. I’m so glad I said yes when @betterish called me last month, telling me she had gotten a couple nights at the absolutely darling @caminocabin and that she wanted us to make an event out of it. Thank goodness for friends like this!
The cabin’s name, Camino Chueco, poetically means “crooked path” and there is no better symbol for what my life feels like right now. Besides my work which i’m loving, the rest of my life feels crooked, confusing, and raw. I hope that on the other side of this retreat I have some acceptance, clarity, and new ideas for what the heck to do next! (Please send me some good thoughts, I don’t know any time I’ve needed it more!)
Stay tuned for more creative retreat-ing magic. Let the transformation begin!
